Juve indebted to Del Piero

Serie A leaders Juventus were once again indebted to captain Alessandro Del Piero as he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win against Reggina Calcio.

Perfect home record
Five days after becoming the club's highest-ever scorer, Del Piero was on target again to move the defending champions ten points clear and maintain their 100 percent home record. He lashed home a superb left-foot shot in the final minute of the first half, enlivening an otherwise lacklustre Juve performance.

Battle for second
Adriano scored twice as FC Internazionale Milano defeated relegation battlers Cagliari Calcio 3-2 at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium to go second. Obafemi Martins scored the home side's other goal, while Mauro Esposito and David Suazo found the net for Cagliari.

Milan slip again
In Sunday's late game, AC Milan's championship hopes suffered another blow as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at AS Roma. Brazilian winger Mancini provided the decisive moment of a tight encounter, cutting in from the left and firing a deflected shot past Dida with ten minutes remaining. The win sees Roma climb to sixth in the Serie A table, while Milan remain in third place, two points behind city rivals Inter. They are now 12 points adrift of defending champions and runaway leaders Juventus.

Toni double
ACF Fiorentina stay fourth after Luca Toni notched his 17th and 18th goals of the Serie A season in a 2-1 win against AC Chievo Verona, including an added-time winner. Udinese Calcio were nearly shocked by relegation battlers Treviso FC, relying on a second-half Antonio Di Natale penalty to salvage a 2-2 draw.

Raggi sees red
Ascoli Calcio moved further away from relegation danger with a 3-1 win at home against Empoli FC, who had Andrea Raggi sent off. Parma FC played out a 1-1 draw with S.S. Lazio, while AC Siena and AS Livorno Calcio also shared the points in an exciting 2-2 draw.
