Surgical solution
The 33-year-old striker had undergone surgery on his damaged tendon on 18 November and had barely had the chance to return to full fitness before he exacerbated the same injury again in training today. He was immediately slated in for another operation this afternoon.
Untimely recurrence
Team doctor Eduardo Escobar took Kovačević to the Quirón clinic for tests as soon as the striker complained of pain in his ankle and his worst fears were confirmed. Kovačević has suffered a complete tear of his achilles tendon and will be out for the rest of the campaign.
