Flying high
Livorno lie fifth in Serie A and their trip to Lecce is probably the pick of a full programme of top-flight fixtures. Roberto Donadoni's men have a five-point advantage over the team directly below them, AS Roma, while trailing ACF Fiorentina and AC Milan, in joint-third place, by the same margin.
Lucarelli connection
The Tuscan side's ten-goal leading scorer Cristiano Lucarelli goes into the game against his former club having scored three times in his last two outings. But it is a match he would be looking forward to regardless. "I have many friends in Lecce and hope they can improve their difficult position in the league as soon as possible," said the 30-year-old, who registered 27 goals in 59 league appearances for Lecce between 1999 and 2001.
'Fairy tale'
Nonetheless, Lucarelli will cast sentiment aside tonight. "Lecce will avoid relegation even if they lose against us," he insisted. "We are living a fairy tale at Livorno and I am keen to see where it will take us."
Chievo test
Elsewhere, table-topping Juventus travel to another side exceeding expectations this season, seventh-placed AC Chievo Verona. FC Internazionale Milano, in second, go to Treviso FC who are second from bottom, while AC Milan will want to consign to history Sunday's defeat at Roma as they host Ascoli Calcio 1898.
