Juventus needed two Fabio Cannavaro headers to come from behind and defeat Empoli Calcio 2-1, restoring their lead at the top of Serie A to eight points ahead of FC Internazionale Milano.

Milan pressure
The centre-back connected with corners on 16 and 72 minutes after Sergio Almirón had given the visitors the lead in the second minute, as Juventus claimed their 14th consecutive home win in the league. Third-placed AC Milan kept up the pressure with a clinical 3-0 win at AC Siena, with two goals from Kaká and another from Andriy Shevchenko, although they remain ten points adrift of the leaders.

Toni topples Messina
Luca Toni increased his Serie A goal tally to 21 in as many games with two goals against FC Messina Peloro as ACF Fiorentina won 2-0 at the Artemio Franchi. Toni opened the scoring in the final minute of the first half with a low finish, then scored a fine second, shrugging off two defenders and curling his shot into the corner. Fiorentina stay fourth, while Messina teeter on the brink of the relegation zone in 17th place.

Mancini double
AS Roma continued their recent revival with an impressive 4-1 win away against Udinese Calcio. Brazilian winger Mancini scored twice, having scored Roma's winner against Milan last weekend. Ascoli Calcio 1898, Reggina Calcio and Parma FC also collected maximum points on Sunday afternoon.
