Shoulder surgery sidelines Kompany

RSC Anderlecht's talented young defender Vincent Kompany will be out of action for 12 weeks as a dislocated shoulder requires surgery.

RSC Anderlecht defender Vincent Kompany is facing a long spell on the sidelines after it was revealed that the talented centre-back will undergo surgery on a dislocated shoulder.

Medical advice
The 19-year-old former Belgian Player of the Year suffered the injury during a training session three weeks ago and is expected to be out for a further three months. Kompany will have an operation to resolve the problem this Thursday following advice from medical specialists in the USA and France.

Injury-plagued
The news is a further blow to a player who has already had to endure an injury-plagued season. The Belgian international was ruled out for two months earlier in the campaign with a back complaint and has only played in 12 league matches.
