Knee surgery sidelines Kluivert

Valencia CF could be without Patrick Kluivert for the rest of the season after the striker underwent an operation to cure a persistent knee injury.

Injury problems
The 29-year-old joined the Spanish side in the summer but has started just one Primera División match to date due to a succession of injuries. Kluivert travelled back to the Netherlands last week to visit the specialist who operated on the same joint last season, having been unable to play since the Copa del Rey tie against RC Deportivo La Coruña on 1 February.

Season in doubt
After surgery this morning, a recovery date of between eight and ten weeks has been set, although Kluivert has been warned that he may be sidelined for the rest of the campaign. The forward has decided to spend his rehabilitation period in the Netherlands under the supervision of the Valencia medical staff.
