Middlesbrough end barren run

Middlesbrough FC overcame local rivals Sunderland AFC with a 3-0 win, while Fulham FC defeated Tottenham Hotspur FC with a last-minute winner.

Middlesbrough FC condemned Sunderland AFC to their 18th league defeat of the season, while Fulham FC shocked Tottenham Hotspur FC with a last-minute winner from Carlos Bocanegra.

Long-awaited win
Middlesbrough achieved their first win in ten Premiership games with an easy 3-0 victory at the Stadium of Light. Emanuel Pogatetz and Stuart Parnaby gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at half-time before Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink compounded Sunderland's woe with a third on 71 minutes.

Tottenham numbed
Spurs, fourth in the Premiership, were undone when United States defender Bocanegra scored in the dying seconds of the London derby. David Thompson marked his return to the Wigan Athletic FC side with a second goal in only his second appearance for the club. Unfortunately for the former Blackburn Rovers FC midfielder, it went in at the wrong end.

Two off
Everton FC's good fortune, however, ended on the stroke of half-time when Paul Scharner equalised with his second goal in only his fourth appearance since signing for Paul Jewell's side from SK Brann. Everton substitute Duncan Ferguson and Wigan striker Jason Roberts were both dismissed. The Premiership's other fixture ended in a goalless draw between Charlton Athletic FC and West Bromwich Albion FC at the Valley.
