VfL Wolfsburg's battle against relegation received a boost as they won against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach, while Hannover 96 and 1. FC Nürnberg drew.

Van der Leegte debut
Klaus Augenthaler's Wolfsburg secured their third home win of the season, a valuable 2-0 home victory that sees them rise two places to 12th in the Bundesliga table. Argentinian striker Diego Klimowicz broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, before Mike Hanke doubled the lead after a deft pass from new signing Tom van der Leegte, making his Bundesliga debut.

Hannover held
Hannover had to settle for a point against struggling Nürnberg, for whom Slovakian striker Robert Vittek scored his first goal this season. Jiři Štajner replied for the hosts to secure a 1-1 draw. Coach Peter Neururer is still unbeaten since taking the reins at Hannover in November, and has guided them to 15th place, one point clear of the drop zone.
