Zaragoza hold on to reach final

Members

Real Madrid CF were unable to complete an epic comeback victory over Real Zaragoza despite a 4-0 win in the return leg of their Spanish Cup semi-final.

Quick-fire goals
Madrid, trailing 6-1 from the first leg, gave Zaragoza an almighty scare as they raced into a 3-0 lead inside ten minutes courtesy of goals from Brazilian trio Cicinho, Robinho and Ronaldo. Compatriot Roberto Carlos made it 4-0 just after the hour with a trademark rocket shot to set up a grandstand finish, but despite a nerve-riddled last half-hour the visitors managed to hang on to claim a 6-5 aggregate success.

Muñoz relief
Zaragoza will face either RCD Espanyol or RC Deportivo La Coruña in their third final in six season, with Espanyol 2-1 up in that tie which concludes on Wednesday evening. "We knew something like this might happen and conceding three goals in ten minutes made things hard, but we managed to hold out and achieve what we wanted," said Zaragoza coach Víctor Muñoz.
