A makeshift Olympique de Marseille team earned an impressive point against Paris Saint-Germain FC at the Parc des Princes after traveling to the French capital without a single first-team regular.

'Like a win'
Security concerns marred much of the build-up to the 54th 'Classique' and led to Marseille sending a team made up of youngsters and players from their fifth-division amateur side. They nevertheless confounded expectation, holding off wave after wave of PSG attack to earn a battling goalless draw that Marseille sporting director José Anigo described as "feeling like a win". Substitute Paulo César came closest for the home team five minutes before half-time, his fine volley forcing a superb goalline clearance.

Auxerre held
The result leaves the Riviera side fifth, two points and two places ahead of their opponents, who have not now won in seven Ligue 1 outings. AJ Auxerre are fourth after their recent disappointing form continued as a 1-1 draw against ES Troyes Aube Champagne made it just one win in their last five games. It might have been worse for Jacques Santini's side as they found themselves behind just before half-time after a goal from Ivorian striker Georges Ba, but Thomas Kahlenberg's second strike in successive matches earned Auxerre a share of the spoils.

Mazure winner
Sebastién Mazure's 89th-minute goal, meanwhile, gave AS Saint-Etienne a 1-0 victory against FC Nantes Atlantique. The result took the home side up to eleventh position in the standings with 40 points from 29 games.
