Eintracht Frankfurt have signed a one-year contract extension with coach Friedhelm Funkel which will keep him in charge until June 2007. The 52-year-old Funkel, assistant Armin Reuterhahn and goalkeeping coach Andreas Menger have all been handed an extra season at the helm, with the option of a further term if they avoid relegation from the Bundesliga in 2006/07.
Egyptian international forward Amr Zaki has signed a four-year contract with Russian side FC Lokomotiv Moskva after helping ENPPI FC finish as runners-up in the Egyptian league. The 22-year-old is awaiting a work permit. Meanwhile, Lokomotiv have sold Georgian striker Mikhail Ashvetia, 28, to FC Rubin Kazan for an undisclosed fee.
Hannover 96 have extended midfielder Silvio Schröter's contract until June 2008. The 26-year-old joined Hannover in 2003 and has played 40 Bundesliga matches, scoring three goals. Schröter recently returned to action following a broken foot
Ligue 1 side Le Mans UC 72 have signed a one-year extension to coach Frédéric Hantz's contract. The 39-year-old has steered Le Mans towards safety in their first season back in the top flight and is now committed to the club until June 2008. He was appointed in December 2004.
Belarussian international midfielder Vladzimir Korytko has joined Ukrainian side FC Metalurh Zaporizhya on loan from Russian club FC Terek Chechenskaya Respublika. The 26-year-old will play for Viacheslav Grozny's team until June 2006. He has scored one goal in eleven appearances for Belarus.
Stephen McManus will stay at Celtic FC until at least 2008 after the 23-year-old centre-back, who has made 26 Scottish league appearances this season, signed a new two-year deal with the option of a further year. "He's the one who does our talking at the back and he's maturing all the time," said manager Gordon Strachan. "Guys like Stephen are one of the reasons you become a coach."
Elsewhere in Scotland, Livingston FC have signed 31-year-old former Leeds United AFC striker Noel Whelan, most recently of Aberdeen FC, and 25-year-old ex-Celtic midfielder Colin Healy, until the end of the season.
