European repeat
Three days after an emphatic win against PSV Eindhoven sealed their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, the French title holders were again in irresistible form as they triumphed by an identical scoreline. Florent Malouda broke the deadlock after ten minutes and John Carew soon made it 2-0 as he ended a goal drought stretching back to the start of December. Malouda added another before Swiss defender Patrick Müller completed the rout with a sweet last-minute volley - his first goal since returning to the club in January.
Bordeaux toil
In the Garonne derby, Bordeaux struggled to break down a resilient Toulouse FC side. Over an hour had elapsed by the time they finally opened the scoring from an unlikely source as Brazilian defender Henrique scored his first goal in French football, to the delight of the home fans at the Stade Chaban-Delmas. veteran forward Lilian Laslandes then sealed the game from the penalty spot after Jean-Claude Darcheville had been brought down.
Auxerre rise
Kanga Akalé and Czech Republic defender René Bolf both scored second-half goals as AJ Auxerre defeated French League Cup finalists OGC Nice by the same scoreline to sidle up alongside third-placed LOSC Lille Métropole, who face FC Nantes Atlantique on Sunday. RC Lens are the new fifth-placed side after beating ten-man ES Troyes AC with Daniel Cousin's goal just before the break.
PSG blunted
Paris Saint-Germain FC scored their first goal in five games, coming back at AS Nancy-Lorraine for a 1-1 draw. Bonaventure Kalou (76) got the equaliser for PSG after Jonathan Brison put Nancy, who also missed a penalty, in front.
