Senegal midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has extended his contract at Fulham FC until 2009. "I have always maintained that Bouba is an important player for this club," said manager Chris Coleman of the 28-year-old. Diop is in his second season in the Premiership following his arrival from RC Lens in 2004.

Sevilla FC face a nervous wait over Vincenzo Maresca after he was taken off during their 1-1 UEFA Cup quarter-final draw at FC Zenit St. Petersburg following a challenge by defender Ivica Križanac. The Zenit player was dismissed and reports suggested the Italian midfielder had broken his leg.

Birmingham City FC's Stephen Clemence will sit out the rest of the season with a hamstring tear. The 28-year-old midfielder suffered the injury eight minutes into Tuesday's 1-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers FC which lifted Birmingham out of the English Premiership relegation places. "Stephen has torn his hamstring which normally means 21 to 28 days [out] - that's the end of the season," said manager Steve Bruce.

Celtic FC manager Gordon Strachan said on Friday that the fabulous ovation he was given by the Scottish club's fans after their midweek title win was "better than any award I have ever had in my life". Celtic tied up the title with a 1-0 home victory over closest Scottish Premier League rivals Heart of Midlothian FC on Wednesday, moving an unassailable 20 points clear with six games remaining.

Stefan Białas has replaced Albin Mikulski as coach of Polish side MKS Cracovia SSA following a poor run of results. The 57-year-old Białas, a former player and coach at Legia Warszawa, has signed a contract until the end of the season with the option of a further two years. Mikulski has returned to his previous position as sporting director, having taken over from Wojciech Stawowy during the winter break.
