Article body
German strugglers MSV Duisburg have sacked coach Jürgen Kohler with six games to play in the Bundesliga season, allowing Heiko Scholz to take charge on a temporary basis.
Short stay
The former Germany defender only took charge of the club on 17 December, signing a two-and-a-half year contract to replace Norbert Meier. The 40-year-old Kohler has seen his side win just twice in the eleven league matches since the winter break, leaving them six points from safety. The final straw was a 1-1 draw at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, with Duisburg conceding a late equaliser.
Distinguished career
Kohler had a distinguished playing career which included spells at FC Bayern München, Juventus and BV Borussia Dortmund and 105 international caps. He had coached the Germany Under-21 side and worked as sports director at Bayer 04 Leverkusen before accepting the Duisburg challenge at the end of last year. His assistant Andreas Zachhuber has also left with immediate effect.
