King out of Tottenham challenge

Members

Tottenham Hotspur FC captain Ledley King will miss his side's final push for a UEFA Champions League place, while it has also given England cause for concern.

Tottenham Hotspur FC captain Ledley King is likely to be out of action for up to a month after injuring his foot in Saturday's 1-0 win at Everton FC.

Stress fracture
The English international sustained a stress fracture to the fourth metatarsal on his left foot and early indications from the Premiership club are that his recovery could take three to four weeks. If the prognosis is correct, King should still be fit for the FIFA World Cup in Germany which starts on 9 June, although Sven-Göran Eriksson has to name his 23-man selection by 15 May. However, of more concern to fourth-placed Tottenham is King's absence as they chase a first-ever qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
