Werder Bremen put the seal on a miserable couple of days for FC Bayern München goalkeeper Oliver Kahn with a 3-0 win against the Bundesliga leaders.

Bayern disappointment
Having been told yesterday that Arsenal FC's Jens Lehmann would be Germany's first-choice goalkeeper at this summer's FIFA World Cup finals, Kahn's side went down 3-0 at the Weserstadion to put a brake on Felix Magath's side's chances of retaining their Bundesliga title.

Own goal
Bastian Schweinsteiger opened the scoring after 33 minutes as he inadvertently headed past his own goalkeeper, and Daniel Jensen and Tim Borowski then piled on the misery for the Bayern No1 with goals in the second half. Hamburger SV can close Bayern's lead at the top of the table to four points with a win against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday.

Leverkusen success
Bayer 04 Leverkusen earned an important 2-1 victory at BV Borussia Dortmund to keep themselves on course for a UEFA Cup place. Dimitar Berbatov and Paul Freier scored the goals. Meanwhile, after earning a 2-2 draw at Bayern last weekend, 1. FC Köln gave themselves further hope of avoiding relegation with a 3-0 home win against VfL Wolfsburg.

Kaiserslautern worry
Elsewhere, 1. FC Kaiserslautern are still in relegation trouble after losing 2-0 at home against in-form Hertha BSC. Early goals by Marko Pantelić and Gilberto did the damage before the interval. Fellow strugglers Eintracht Frankfurt lost 1-0 at DSC Arminia Bielefeld with Heiko Westermann scoring the only goal of the game.

Tomasson strike
A 0-0 draw at home against SV Hannover 96 was not enough for 1.FSV Mainz 05 to ease their relegaton fears, while VfB Stuttgart’s hopes of a UEFA Cup place next season remain slender despite a 1-0 win against 1. FC Nürnberg. Jon Dahl Tomasson scored the only goal of the match after 80 minutes with Nürnberg already down to ten men.
