Captain marvel
CSKA have secured the services of Petre, the FC Dinamo 1948 Bucuresti captain, on a three-year contract starting on 1 July. The 30-year-old has made 253 league appearances for the Romanian Divizia A leaders, scoring 43 goals.
Glittering career
Penev, meanwhile, has made an even greater contribution to the CSKA cause, winning eleven Bulgarian titles as player and coach. He now returns to the Balgarska Armia stadium as general manager, easing the burden on coach Plamen Markov who played under Penev at CSKA during the 1980s. The 60-year-old, who led Bulgaria to the 1994 FIFA World Cup semi-finals, was last in charge of the club from 1998-2000.
