Bayern get more of Makaay

Dutch international striker Roy Makaay has signed a contract extension with FC Bayern München, keeping him with the German champions-elect until 2008.

Title winner
The Dutch international, who has scored 61 goals in 93 Bundesliga games for Bayern, has put pen to paper on a deal that replaces a contract due to expire next summer. Makaay, 31, joined Germany's champions-elect from RC Deportivo La Coruña at the start of the 2003/04 season and won a domestic double in Munich last term.

World Cup hopeful
He scored twice in Sunday's 2-2 league draw at 1. FSV Mainz 05 to underline his claim to a place in the Netherlands squad for the FIFA World Cup finals, although suggestions are that he may be omitted from coach Marco van Basten's plans. "There are four weeks to go and a lot can happen in that time," Makaay stressed.
