Diving header
The Brazilian forward dived to head home in the 47th minute to secure Dynamo's eighth cup triumph since the competition began in 1992. Zaporizhya, an unfashionable side from eastern Ukraine, were appearing in their first final and dominated much of the game only to spurn several first-half chances as Dynamo goalkeeper Olexandr Shovkovskiy made a string of saves.
Shovkovskiy boost
Shovkovskiy, Ukraine's first-choice custodian, has recently returned to Dynamo's lineup after three months out with a shoulder injury, boosting his country's chances at next month's FIFA World Cup. His club now have the opportunity of winning a domestic double as they lead defending champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk by two points with two Ukrainian Premier League matches remaining. The two teams face off in the season's finale on 14 May.
