FC Bayern München have agreed a contract extension with Mehmet Scholl, continuing an association with the 35-year-old midfielder that dates back to 1992.

German double winners FC Bayern München have agreed a one-year contract extension with veteran midfielder Mehmet Scholl

High hopes
The 35-year-old is Bayern's longest serving player, having joined the club as a 21-year-old in 1992. Despite an injury-hit career and being mainly used as a substitute in the 2005/06 campaign, Scholl has remained a firm favourite with the Bundesliga club's supporters. "We are sure that Mehmet will be able to help us in the games to come," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Scholl, capped 36 times for Germany, added that he is already looking forward to the new season.
