Manchester United FC have agreed to loan United States goalkeeper Tim Howard to Premiership rivals Everton FC for the 2006/07 season.
Long-term successor
The 27-year-old has been understudy to Edwin van der Sar during the current campaign and will move to Goodison Park in the hope of regular first-team football. United see Howard, who has 45 Premiership appearances under his belt, as a potential long-term successor to their 35-year-old No1. The deal will be completed on 1 July, with Howard due to represent the US at the FIFA World Cup next month. He signed for United in summer 2003 from Major League Soccer club MetroStars, now the New York Red Bulls.
