PFC Levski Sofia have claimed the Bulgarian Premier League title with two games to spare after a 2-1 victory at PFC Botev Plovdiv gave them an unassailable eight-point advantage at the summit.
Rivals shocked
Stanimir Stoilov's team capitalised on a slip by nearest rivals PFC CSKA Sofia as a Georgi Ivanov penalty and goal from Daniel Borimirov set them on course for a comfortable victory in Plovdiv. With their city rivals losing 1-0 at struggling PFC Rodopa Smolian it proved enough to claim their 24th title, but they still have some way to go to match CSKA Sofia's record of 30. Levski, who reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup this season, will start their UEFA Champions League campaign in the second qualifying round next season.
