Sicilian club Catania Calcio 1946 secured promotion to Serie A on Sunday after a 2-1 win over UC Albinoleffe. Catania last featured in the top flight 23 years ago and they will renew their derby rivalry with US Città di Palermo next season. Bergamo club Atalanta BC had already secured promotion and despite defeat by Modena Calcio on Sunday secured the Serie B title. The third promotion spot for the top flight will be decided after play-offs. Torino Calcio, Mantova Calcio, Modena FC and Cesena Calcio will battle it out for the last remaining spot in next season's Serie A.
The Kilmarnock FC defender Gordon Greer has agreed a new one-year deal with the option of another year which would keep him at the Ayrshire club until 2008. "It's good to get Gordon tied up as we are short of defensive numbers," said manager Jim Jefferies.
Kenyan International Robert Mumba has returned to Sweden to sign for BK Häcken after spending two seasons in Norway with Viking FK. The 27-year-old previously played under Häcken coach Stefan Lundin at Örebro SK.
