Beşiktaş put faith in youth

Beşiktaş JK have begun preparations for next season's league and UEFA Cup campaigns by signing youngsters Baki Mercimek and Fahri Tatan.

The 22-year-old midfielder Fahri arrives on a three-year contract after an impressive campaign at Rizespor. The former Fenerbahçe SK youth player helped his hometown club to ninth in the Turkish Superleague last season, six spots behind Beşiktaş, whose third-place finish earned a UEFA Cup berth. Meanwhile, Netherlands-born defender Baki arrives from Gençlerbirliği SK on a two-year deal.
