Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has been named president of a new board at Italian champions Juventus following the resignation of the previous directors last month.

New regime
The 60-year-old Cobolli Gigli will head the new regime alongside honorary presidents Franzo Grande Stevens and club legend Giampiero Boniperti. Italy volleyball coach Giampaolo Montali and 1982 FIFA World Cup winner Marco Tardelli also join the board together with Stefano Bertola, Riccardo Montanaro, Marzio Saà, Carlo Sant'Albano, Camillo Venesio and chief executive Jean Claude Blanc.

'All our trust'
The board will officially begin work after a general meeting on 29 June. "Cobolli Gigli has all our trust as president," said John Elkann, vice-president of the IFIL holding company that has a 62 per cent controlling stake in Juventus. "He has worked for us for many years and can give the stability Juventus need at this particular moment."

FA investigation
The old board's resignation came in the wake of press allegations concerning the Juventus management, which has led to an Italian Football Federation investigation and inquiries by public prosecutors in Turin, Rome and Naples.
