UC Sampdoria have signed Christian Vieri from AS Monaco FC for an undisclosed fee. The 32-year-old striker, who has put pen to paper on a one-year contract, will be unveiled in Genoa on Friday morning.

Much-travelled career
Vieri, who missed the FIFA World Cup finals due to a knee injury, has scored 22 goals in 43 internationals for Italy. The much-travelled forward played for Torino Calcio, Pisa Calcio, US Ravenna and AC Venezia before making his Serie A debut in 1995 with Atalanta BC. The Australia-born player's wanderlust was not sated, however, and he had spells with Juventus, Club Atlético de Madrid in Spain, S.S. Lazio - with whom he lifted the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup - FC Internazionale Milano and AC Milan before transferring to Monaco last January.
