Eintracht Frankfurt midfield player Jermaine Jones will sit out the start of the Bundesliga season because of an operation for a persistent shin problem.

UEFA Cup hopefuls Eintracht Frankfurt have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Jermaine Jones will miss the start of the German Bundesliga season because of an operation for a persistent shin problem.

Third operation
Eintracht doctor Christoph Seeger revealed that the 24-year-old will undergo surgery tomorrow in Berlin. Jones will have a screw removed from his right shin bone as it was causing irritation. The former German Under-21 international had six screws placed in his leg after it was fractured last season, prompting him to sit out the German Cup final in April. The procedure will be Jones's third for the same complaint.
