Rumours quashed
The 30-year-old Spanish international has played 84 league matches for Villarreal since arriving in 2002 from AD São Caetano of Brazil, his country of birth. He said: "Despite all the rumours about my future this summer, all I was looking forward to was staying here. The club has continued growing since I arrived and I'm convinced we'll win a trophy soon. When we do, I want to be around to celebrate it."
