Roma keep on winning track

AS Roma and US Città di Palermo maintained their winning starts to the Serie A season on Sunday with victories that leave them as joint leaders.

Pizarro off mark
Chilean midfielder David Pizarro scored his first goal for Roma in their 3-1 victory at AC Siena with Brazilian Rodrigo Taddei and Stefano Okaka Chuka also on target. David Di Michele scored both Palermo's goals in their 2-1 win away to S.S. Lazio to complete a good week for the Sicilian club who won at West Ham United FC in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.

Milan battle on
A superb free-kick by Clarence Seedorf and a penalty from Kaká helped AC Milan in their quest to claw their way back up Serie A following their pre-season points deduction as they won 2-0 at Parma FC. S.S. Lazio's second straight loss left them on minus eleven due to the penalty imposed by the sporting fraud trial. ACF Fiorentina, who began the campaign on minus 19, remain bottom of the table after suffering another defeat with a 1-0 loss to Tuscan rivals AS Livorno Calcio.

Pagliuca record
Ascoli Calcio 1898's meeting with FC Messina Peloro and Empoli FC's clash against AC Chievo Verona ended 1-1 as Gianluca Pagliuca broke Dino Zoff's Serie A appearance record for a goalkeeper when he started for Ascoli. The 39-year-old former FC Internazionale Milano, Bologna FC and UC Sampdoria player made his 570th appearance to set a new record. Elsewhere, Calcio Catania's game against Atalanta BC finished goalless and Udinese Calcio defeated Torino Calcio 2-0.
