Three-year deal
The 38-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Edinburgh side and succeeds Tony Mowbray, who joined English first division team West Bromwich Albion FC earlier this month. Collins started his career with the Easter Road club before moving to Celtic FC, AS Monaco FC, Everton FC and Fulham FC.

"I'm delighted to be taking up the managerial position at Hibernian and returning to the club where I started my football career," said Collins. "This is a club of tremendous stature with a great tradition for playing entertaining and attacking football." Chairman Rod Petrie said: "John has the ambition and character to be a top manager. We have a talented group of players and a tremendous infrastructure at the club. John joins us at an exciting time."
