PSG punished by vibrant Hapoel

Paris Saint-Germain FC 2-4 Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC Salim Toema's early double laid the foundations for a memorable Group G victory for the Israeli outfit.

Toema thunderbolt
The Israeli visitors had taken just one point from their first two Group G games but were quickly into their stride at the Parc des Princes and were rewarded in the second minute. Toema found space 25 metres from goal and unleashed a thunderous shot that left PSG goalkeeper Mickaël Landreau grasping at thin air.

Advantage doubled
Four minutes later it was two-nil as another emphatic effort by Toema from a similar distance gave Landreau no chance once again and left PSG, who kicked off level with Hapoel on one point, with a mountain to climb. To their credit the Ligue 1 team rallied quickly and halved the deficit in the 14th minute, Pierre-Alain Frau capitalising on Paulo César's quick throw-in to beat Shavit Elimelech from close range.

Lead regained
Suitably buoyed, PSG continued to press and levelled in the 25th minute, Pauleta curling a delightful strike from the left beyond the keeper. The disappearance of their advantage might have prompted Hapoel heads to drop; instead the away side regained the initiative a minute before half-time, Toema turning provider with a corner that gave Walid Badir the opportunity to thump in the third.

Barda bonus
Victory was effectively assured three minutes before the hour when Elyaniv Barda broke clear of the PSG defence and nervelessly beat Landreau from the edge of the area to seal a famous win for Hapoel. Itzhak Shum's team now move up to second in the section with four points and conclude their campaign at home to FK Mladá Boleslav on 13 December. PSG, meanwhile, slip to the bottom of the standings and will try to revive their fading hopes away to Mladá Boleslav next Thursday.
