Distinction
At a Friday night ceremony at the headquarters of the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ), president István Kisteleki paid his personal respects to the former Kispest Honvéd FC and Real Madrid CF great, who also served his country to distinction. Kisteleki put out a candle and placed a rose in front of the Puskás picture that adorns the main entrance to the Budapest building.

Silent ceremony
The gesture was followed by Puskás's friends and colleagues, with members of the football family from all levels paying their respects. During the ceremony a giant screen showed footage of the 'Magical Magyars' in action, a reminder to all of the genius that helped put Hungary firmly on the footballing map. After the silent ceremony, fans were invited to add their tributes and light candles in Puskás's memory. Similar scenes were played out at the Bozsik Stadium home of Honvéd.
