Olympiacos name Lemonis coach

Trond Sollied has been sacked as coach of Greek champions Olympiacos CFP and replaced by Takis Lemonis, who left Skoda Xanthi FC last week.

Domestic double
Sollied arrived at Olympiacos in July 2005 and he duly delivered the domestic league and cup double in the 2005/06 season. Olympiacos are five points clear at the top of the Super League midway through the current championship.

European woes
However, his two UEFA Champions League campaigns have ended in disappointment, with Olympiacos recording just one win, a 2-1 victory against an under-strength Real Madrid CF in December 2005. Olympiacos finished bottom of their UEFA Champions League group in their last two attempts to reach the knockout rounds.

Lemonis returns
Lemonis is no stranger to Olympiacos, having spent eight years there as a player and one previous spell as a coach which ended in 2002. The 46-year-old's first game in charge will be against his former club Xanthi on 7 January.
