Cacau prolongs Stuttgart stay

Members

Brazilian striker Cacau has extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart, an agreement that will keep him at the high-flying Bundesliga outfit until the summer of 2010.

Flying high
The 25-year-old, whose previous deal was due to expire next summer, moved to the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion in 2003 after two seasons with 1. FC Nürnberg. He has since managed 25 goals in 82 Bundesliga games, including five in 13 starts this term to help Armin Veh's team to third place in the German top flight, two points behind joint-leaders Werder Bremen and FC Schalke 04.

'At home'
"I am happy we have come to an arrangement to keep Cacau until 2010," said Stuttgart general manager Horst Heldt. "He is a player who feels at home in Stuttgart and who absolutely identifies with this club. Cacau has been a very important player for us, not just this season. We are convinced of his qualities and hope he will play well in the future and score many goals."
