Colomba comes to Cagliari's aid

Cagliari Calcio have brought in 51-year-old Franco Colomba as their new coach two days after parting company with Marco Giampaolo.

Serie A comeback
Colomba was last employed as coach in Serie A with AS Livorno Calcio during the 2004/05 season when he was replaced by Roberto Donadoni, who is now in charge of the Italian national team. Colomba has also coached US Salernitana Sport, Vicenza Calcio and Reggina Calcio and last season he failed to help US Avellino Calcio avoid relegation from Serie B. The new coach has signed a contract until the end of the season with the Sardinian club and will make his debut at home against ACF Fiorentina on Wednesday night. Cagliari are currently 13th in Serie A with 16 points from as many games.
