Adriano opener
Inter struggled to break down an obdurate Torino defence on a foggy night at the Stadio Comunale but were deserved winners in the end. The victory means they have broken the record of eleven straight wins achieved by AS Roma last season. Zlatan Ibrahimović created chances for both Adriano and Patrick Vieira before the break but it was Adriano who gave the visitors the lead when he headed in Maicon's pinpoint cross on 25 minutes.
Abbiati off
Torino struck back on the hour when substitute Stefano Fiore's shot deflected past Júlio César. However, Ibrahimović caught Torino off guard within a minute with a spectacular angled strike and Marco Materazzi scored from the penalty spot after Adriano was brought down by Christian Abbiati, who was sent off for the offence four minutes from time.
Empoli make move
With most sides in the Italian top flight playing on Sunday, Empoli moved into a share of fifth place with S.S. Lazio after inflicting a twelfth defeat of the season upon troubled Parma FC. Defender Andrea Razzi scored the opening goal on 27 minutes and Davide Matteini's 78th-minute effort made it 2-0 to leave the club from Emilia Romagna, which is still awaiting new ownership, just three points from the foot of Serie A.
