Title challenge
Jardel, who will wear the No9 jersey, said: "I have come here to play football, give my all to Anorthosis, score goals and fulfil the expectations I have from everyone. Anorthosis are an attacking side who are challenging for the title, and that is main reason I have been brought to the club. I hope to score at least ten goals by the end of the season." Anorthosis trail league leaders APOEL FC by four points.
Prolific days
Twice a winner of the ESM Golden Shoe, Jardel recently left SC Beira-Mar "by mutual consent" after scoring three goals in 12 appearances for the Portuguese side. He hit the heights during spells at FC Porto and Sporting Clube de Portugal, collecting the ESM Golden Shoe in 1999 and 2002, but struggled to reproduce that form in subsequent stints at Bolton Wanderers FC, Ancona Calcio, CA Newell's Old Boys, EC Palmeiras and Goiás EC.
