FC Internazionale Milano moved eleven points clear at the top of Serie A following victory against ACF Fiorentina on a day of frustration for AS Roma.

FC Internazionale Milano moved eleven points clear at the top of Serie A following victory against ACF Fiorentina, extending their advantage over second-placed AS Roma after the capital club could only draw 1-1 at AS Livorno Calcio.

Record streak
Inter, who went into the home fixture defending an unbeaten league record this season, fell behind to an early header from Fiorentina's Luca Toni but showed why they have been so hard to beat in 2006/07 with an impressive comeback. Two goals in a matter of minutes midway through the first half by Dejan Stanković and the in-form Adriano turned the match in the home side's favour before Zlatan Ibrahimović put the result beyond doubt on 71 minutes for a record 13th successive Serie A win.

Roma frustration
Roma lost further ground on the leaders at Livorno as captain Francesco Totti salvaged a point late-on after it had looked as though Cristiano Lucarelli's first-half penalty would be enough to earn the home side all three points. Roma's frustration was compounded in the final moments when Totti was shown a red card, on a day that the Italian international became the most prolific goalscorer currently playing in Serie A alongside AC Siena's Enrico Chiesa.

Empoli victory
Elsewhere, Empoli FC were the biggest risers as they moved up into fourth position following a 2-0 home victory against UC Sampdoria, climbing above Calcio Catania after this season's surprise package were beaten 1-0 at home by Cagliari Calcio thanks to an early David Suazo penalty. S.S. Lazio went fifth after playing out a goalless draw at home to AC Milan in Rome.

Rossi winner
At the bottom of the table, Parma FC boosted their hopes of staving off relegation after Giuseppe Rossi's 75th-minute winner gave them victory against Torino FC. It was a win which moved them to within one place of FC Messina Peloro in 18th after their 1-0 reverse at Udinese Calcio. Siena were also winners, defeating AC Chievo Verona 2-1 at home.
