Baseggio recalled by Anderlecht

RSC Anderlecht have recalled Walter Baseggio from a loan spell at Italian side Treviso FBC, with the former Belgian international also signing a new contract.

Back home
Baseggio has accepted a 12-month extension to his deal, committing the 28-year-old to the Brussels club until 2008. He became a fans' favourite in nine and a half seasons with Anderlecht but was unexpectedly loaned to Treviso midway through last term as they headed towards relegation from Serie A.

Domino effect
The midfielder replaces Cristián Leiva in Franky Vercauteren's squad. The 29-year-old Argentinian has been farmed out to R. Charleroi SC until the end of the campaign. At Charleroi, Leiva will fill in for 29-year-old French midfielder Sébastien Chabaud, who has joined Spanish Primera División strugglers CG Tarragona on an 18-month contract.
