Les Bleues begin new era with win

Bruno Bini had a winning start as France coach as they defeated FIFA Women's World Cup hosts China in Merignac.

Debut goal
Bini, who succeeded Elisabeth Loisel earlier this month, made his name coaching France to the 2003 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship and one of that squad Gaétane Thiney, making her senior debut today, gave Les Bleues the lead just after the break. Camille Abily completed the scoring three minutes from time, to put France on a high ahead of next week's Algarve Cup, where they play Denmark, Germany and Norway in the group stage prior to opening their UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying campaign against Greece on 11 April. China, meanwhile, go on to Italy for another friendly on Saturday.
