Luhukay glad of Gladbach chance

VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach have promoted Jos Luhukay to head coach until the end of the season after Saturday's 2-0 win at DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

The 43-year old Dutchman arrived in January to assist former coach Jupp Heynckes, and was immediately made favourite to step up to the top job following the sacking of Heynckes on Wednesday. Mönchengladbach sporting director Peter Pander said: "We fully trust Jos Luhukay and believe he will make the team avoid relegation." The side are 16th in the Bundesliga table, four points above the bottom club Hamburger SV.
