The match was effectively over after 32 minutes when Tom de Mul scored the home side's third goal after two earlier efforts from Sniejder. Greece forward Angelos Charisteas recuced the arrears in the 43rd minute but the Rotterdam club had no answer to Sneijder as he completed his hat-trick two minutes from time. Feyenoord remain fifth and in UEFA Cup contention despite the defeat. All three of the other games played on Sunday - Sparta Rotterdam-Roda JC, BV Vitesse-NEC Nijmegen and ADO Den Haag-FC Utrecht - ended in draws.
