Olympique Lyonnais moved 14 points clear in Ligue 1 after winning their first league game of 2007 on a day that rivals LOSC Lille Métropole were beaten.

Olympique Lyonnais recorded their first win in six Ligue 1 games and extended their lead at the top of the standings to 14 points with a 1-0 home victory against FC Lorient while LOSC Lille Métropole's were beaten by the same scoreline at Toulouse FC.

Fred winner
The only goal of the French champions' first league success of 2007 was scored by Brazilian striker Fred after eight minutes. Meanwhile, Lille needed just a point against Toulouse to move into second spot with RC Lens and Olympique de Marseille, who began the day in second and fourth places respectively, in action on Sunday. However, the northern club lost 1-0 at the Stade Municipal following an injury-time own goal by Grégory Tafforeau.

Moussilou equaliser
AS Saint-Etienne had the chance to move into fourth place with a victory at AJ Auxerre but were forced to settle for a point, after a 1-1 draw. Ivorian striker Kanga Akalé (19) gave the hosts the lead but Matt Moussilou (75) earned a point for Saint-Etienne. Stade Rennais FC and AS Nancy-Lorraine also remain in contention for a European spot for next season after playing out a 1-1 draw. Nancy appeared to be on course for their first away win in the league this season when Kim (55) put them in front but John Utaka (85) rescued a point for Rennes.

PSG boost
At the other end of the table Paris Saint-Germain FC were given a timely boost ahead of their UEFA Cup clash at AEK Athens FC as they ended a run of 12 league games without a win by defeating AS Monaco FC 4-2 in the capital. PSG's goals came from Amara Diané, a Flavio Roma own goal, Marcelo Gallardo and Cristian Rodriguez. CS Sedan-Ardennes stay bottom after a 3-2 defeat at Le Mans UC 72 while FC Nantes Atlantique drop to 19th following a 5-2 home reverse against Valenciennes FC, for whom Steve Savidan scored four times. Meanwhile, Lilian Laslandes found the net twice as OGC Nice won 3-0 against ES Troyes Aube Champagne.
