Derby abandoned after Ramos struck

The Copa del Rey quarter-final between Real Betis Balompié and Sevilla FC was abandoned after coach Juande Ramos was hit by an object thrown from the crowd.

Ramos incident
Ramos was carried off the pitch unconscious on a stretcher shortly after Sevilla had taken a 1-0 aggregate lead through Frédéric Kanouté 12 minutes into the second half. Medical staff at the Estadio Manuel Ruiz de Lopera told reporters that Ramos regained consciousness as he was put into an ambulance but the Seville derby was called off.

Barça success
Later in the evening, FC Barcelona exacted revenge for last season's defeat at this stage by Real Zaragoza with a 2-1 away win. Goals from Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta gave Barça a two-goal lead before Gerard Piqué levelled the tie to make it 2-2 on aggregate. However, Frank Rijkaard's side held on to go through on away goals.

Aggregate winner
Getafe CF and Deportivo La Coruña also eased through to the last four of the competition despite failing to win on the night. Bernardo Romeo's 15th-minute goal gave CA Osasuna a 1-0 win against Getafe, who nevertheless ran out 3-1 aggregate winners, while a 1-1 draw was sufficient to see Deportivo through to the semi-finals 5-2 on aggregate against second division outfit Real Valladolid CF.
