RC Lens defender Nicolas Gillet faces at least one month on the sidelines after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot.
'Major haematoma'
The former French international needed an operation as a result of internal bleeding in his injured thigh. "He got a bruise a few days ago and this became a major haematoma which we had to deal with," said club medical officer Jean-Marc Laborderie. "The muscle will require rest for an unspecified period. It is not easy to say how long the recovery will take, but one month would be nice." The versatile 30-year-old has made eight league appearances for Lens this season and seven more in the UEFA Cup. His side are second in Ligue 1, and with nine games to play, remain on course for the UEFA Champions League.
