Falcone dismissal
Francesco Guidolin's side are still in contention for a UEFA Champions League place but their weakening grip on third place in Serie A will slip if S.S. Lazio side defeat Empoli FC on Sunday. The draw was all the more galling for Palermo given that the home side were reduced to ten men when Giulio Falcone was sent off on 36 minutes. Edison Cavani subsequently put the visitors ahead early in the second half but within three minutes striker Fabio Quagliarella had levelled. Palermo are ten points behind second-placed AS Roma and one ahead of Lazio, but have played two matches more than their league rivals.
