Empoli FC missed an opportunity to move above AC Milan after a goalless draw at Cagliari Calcio on a day that Udinese Calcio won 2-1 against AC Chievo Verona.

Missed chance
A win at would have moved unfancied Empoli above Milan in the Serie A table, but they missed their cue against mid-table Cagliari. Meanwhile, Udinese kept the relegation pressure on AC Chievo Verona with a 2-1 home win. Sergio Pellissier had put the visitors ahead after nine minutes, but Vincenzo Iaquinta levelled before half-time with his 13th Seria A goal of the season. Antonio Di Natale then put Udinese ahead in the second half before the dismissal of Andrea Coda left gave Chievo a man advantage in the closing stages, though they could not capitalise.
