FC Hansa Rostock goalkeeper Mathias Schober will return to FC Schalke 04 this summer when his contract with the 2. Bundesliga side expires.

'Schalke boy'
Schober, who spent eleven years with the Bundesliga leaders between 1990 and 2001 but made only 25 league appearances, has signed a four-year deal with Schalke. The 31-year-old joined Hansa ahead of the 2001/02 campaign and has since played 186 league games for the club, who are second in the German second division with five matches of the season remaining. "We wanted to add experience to our goalkeeping department for next term," said Schalke general manager Andreas Müller. "It's even better we were able to get a 'Schalke boy' in Mathias."
