Källström awaits Lyon's final curtain

Members

Kim Källström is ready for "a big moment" as Olympique Lyonnais attempt to wrap up a sixth successive title this evening against Stade Rennais FC.

Olympique Lyonnais will claim their sixth successive French title tonight if they overcome Stade Rennais FC in a game rescheduled from 1 April.

Theoretical chance
The original fixture was postponed to allow Lyon to play in the League Cup final on 31 March, which they lost 1-0 against FC Girondins de Bordeaux. A victory at the Stade de Gerland would put Gérard Houllier's side 20 points clear of second-placed Toulouse FC with six matches remaining. A draw would leave Toulouse with a chance, albeit largely hypothetical, of taking the crown.

Finishing touch
"It would be good to finish it off in front of our home crowd," said Sweden midfielder Kim Källström, a former Rennes player. "It will be my first title and that's what I came here for. It will be a big moment." Should they succeed, Lyon will set a record for the earliest French championship triumph in a season, though mid-table Rennes may prove sturdy opponents. They were the first team to beat Lyon in the current campaign, winning 1-0 at home, and also stunned the champions 4-1 at the Stade de Gerland in this fixture last term.
