Article body
Werder Bremen kept Bundesliga leaders FC Schalke 04 in their sights with victory against BV Borussia Dortmund helping close the gap back to two points, four ahead of reigning champions FC Bayern München who beat Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
Klose goal
Bremen had conceded second spot to VfB Stuttgart yesterday, but made light work in reclaiming it with a 2-0 win in Dortmund. Both the goals came in the first half, with Miroslav Klose ending a run of eight league games without a goal by scoring the opener on 28 minutes, and Diego secured the points with a second before half-time - his eleventh strike of the league campaign.
Bayern recovery
It leaves Bremen in touching distance of Schalke, while Bayern sit six points off the pace in fourth after a battling 2-1 win at home to sixth-placed Leverkusen. Mark van Bommel put them on course for victory on the half-hour mark as Ottmar Hitzfeld's side looked to bounce back from their UEFA Champions League elimination by AC Milan. Roy Makaay increased the advantage just after the restart but Andriy Voronin (60) pulled one back to ensure a grandstand finish, as Bayern held on.
